Curing soap...so good!

Yesterday's soap making endeavours has yielded lots of lovely soap...we cut it this morning, now it cures for 5 weeks.

Your soap looks fantastic Wendy - I am definately going to try...one question, it is a long time since I was in SA - please remind me what shortening is??

Shortening is fat..I used HOLSUM.

Hi Wendy. I would like to know what do you enter Holsum as on the lye calculator? Because our Holsum is made from Palm oil, I have previously entered it as Palm Stearin, but not sure if this is correct. However, when I enter it as Palm oil, I get the same lye quantity as Palm STearin, but very different Soap Qualities (hardness, conditioning, bubbly etc). Do you perhaps know what is the correct one, as there is also another oil entry called 'Walmart shortening beef tallow palm'. I would really appreciate your assistance. Thanks. Zikhona
