I have been clearing through some crates of material and found some left over pj flannel. As we don't use heaters and electric blankets (too much electricity) I made each child a bean bag to warm their toes in bed :-)
Once the casing is sown, you pour in 1 or 2 bags of pearl barley and then seal. They can then be warmed in the microwave for 2 minutes and they retain the heat for a long time.

It seems that your family try to live very healthily and environmentally sensitive, that's very encouraging and I'll keep checking in to see what I can learn from you. But how come do you still use a microwave? Please read up on this, you'll be amazed. It changes more than the composition of your food, the consumed food actually has a negative influence on your body! We tossed ours out more than 4 years ago and have not missed it at all. Use good old hot water bottles instead of microwaved grains.
