Surprise potatoes

Yesterday I decided to dig up my potatoes. I planted them in July just as the sun was starting to reach this area at the end of the day but was not very hopeful that we would get anything as I only managed to bank them twice before the foliage started going yellow.

I thought it was because I had planted turnips there before and perhaps they were not compatible...but we filled a 5 litre bucket twice over with spuds. Enough for a good few meals and side dishes.

I used some to make a new potato salad from Jane's Delicious Kitchen recipe book which has chickpeas, baby corn, cherry tomatoes, feta, chorizo sausage with a mint, rosemary baslamic dressing...simply delicious!
